We did well, guys. We turned a little idea that floated around in my head into a forum. We populated it with amazing characters and remarkably creative monsters. It made me have to take something that was an extremely vague idea and turn it into something coherent that others could understand.

That's why it's kind of sad to let it go.

Let's face it, Arplakoon's a little too much of a niche forum to get enough attention from others. It's a little too different from popular forums. I'm immensely grateful for those of you that stuck around to see it through. Maybe someday I'll bring Arplakoon back. I might turn one of the planets into a separate forum. But who knows? Maybe one of you will, too. Maybe you can turn this great potential into something. If you do, tell me. I'd like to see it. I'd probably help you out, too.


Statistics:


  • When all of Arplakoon's board descriptions and continuity-related threads are put into one Word document, it totals eighty-seven pages in 10-point font. Similarly, it hits exactly 266,653 characters and 43,380 words. Eat your heart out, NaNoWriMo.

  • 172 threads and 723 posts.

  • We had twenty-something members at one point. I forget the exact number.

  • May 22, 2008, 6:09pm is when Arplakoon was first created. Now on January 11, 2009... it's going down. Hopefully not forever.



Do you hear that? It's a marvelous sound. Listen closely. It's not the sound of an ending, but of a new beginning.

Seeya, Arplakoon. You had a nice run, and even better support. Thank you, everyone. Thank you for giving Arplakoon a chance.
